It's been quite a moment since we have had time to sit down and talk about THE FINALS Esports and that's due to all of the amazing events that have been popping up between Ape Squad Classics, PHL 26, and Embark's Online Series starting up. And with all the events popping up, we also have seen some new organizations enter the scene to grab up the amazing teams and individuals that are currently unsigned.
One of these new organizations is Team Aether , a newer organization previously holding a roster in Counter-Strike 2, who have signed the recently released roster of Brutal Logic and Sparrow . Brutal Logic and Sparrow were recently released from Pulsar Blue during Ape Squad Classics and shortly before the registration window closed for PHL 26. Brutal Logic and Sparrow previously competed in TGM25 finishing in 11-12th place after being eliminated with KINGZERO during the elimination cashout match towards the end of Day 1. Joining the previous Pulsar squad is Metro, a notable name in the comp scene who we've seen compete in events recently like The Heist Games.
Following the org's official announcement on May 15th, Team Aether competed in Embark's first Online Series for Americas and after seven matches the squad finished in 22nd place. While the team will not be continuing on through this cycle, this is a solid performance as they ended with a 5W 2L record tying them for ninth place before tie-breaker metrics. For this series, tie-breakers are determined by a Buchholz score which is commonly used in chess. It's a system that at a high level ranks tied teams/players by the strength of their opponents which is typically derived by the sum of all your opponents' final match scores. You can learn more about the system here .
While Team Aether will not be continuing on through this cycle of the Online Series, you can expect them to compete in future THE FINALS events. In the meantime, you can follow Brutal Logic's Twitch , Sparrow's Twitch , and Metro on X .
